The Lady Gaga Melbourne concert happens on Saturday, August 23 at Rod Laver Arena and it promises to be sensational. This tour goes by the name of artRAVE, The ARTPOP Ball, in support of her third studio album ARTPOP.
Lady Gaga – mysterious, outrageous, unpredictable, talented – she has sold 24 million albums and 125 million singles… she has five Grammy Awards and 13 MTV Video Music Awards… she has been named by Forbes Magazine in the list of The World’s Most Powerful Women from 2010 to 2013 and named as one of the most influential women in world by Time Magazine.
While the lady known to fans as the Mother Monster credits a huge list of artists as her musical influences she is a true original. The influences include The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, Whitney Houston, Elton John, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Madonna, David Bowie, Andy Warhol, Princess Diana and Queen.
She took her name from the Queen song Radio Gaga. Having grown up in New York as Stefani Germanotta around age 20 she was, understandably, looking for a stage name. According to then music producer Rob Fusari, he came up with the name. When Stefani would arrive in the studio he would greet her by singing Radio Gaga and one day he texted those words to her… the text message, being somewhat predictive, changed ‘radio’ to ‘lady’ and she texted back, “That’s it – never call me Stefani again”.
