Carillon Theatrical Society in association with Hal Leonard is proud to present the award winning musical Beauty and the Beast in Bathurst.
Beauty and the Beast is based on a traditional French fairy tale. The animated Disney classic first wowed audiences in 1991. You could say it was fifty years in the making because Disney tried to get a feature film happening since the success of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1938, but they could quite nail the story. It was worth the wait.
The stage musical ran on Broadway between 1994 and 2007, and quickly proved a favourite with audiences as Broadway's eighth longest–running production in history (5461 performances). From there it took on the world where it has played in thirteen countries and 151 cities.
Beauty and the Beast transports audiences to the heart of provincial life, telling the story of the taming of a Beast by the intelligent and beautiful heroine, Belle. This production is proudly performed by one of the largest cast ever assembled by the Carillon Theatrical Society and represents the Society's first Disney production.
