On Saturday, June 14 North Sydney Market on Miller is celebrating the Guringai Festival, as part of the country's annual celebration of Indigenous Heritage, History and Culture.
The Market is helping to raise awareness Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in the Northern Sydney region and welcomes everyone to celebrate the world's oldest culture and heritage with stall holders and fellow customers.
Activities planned on the day include performances from emerging Aboriginal musicians, artist and bush tucker talks and art. The market runs from 9:00am to 3:00pm and there will be free activities for the kiddies and the markets will be on rain, hail or shine (they simply move next door to the undercover Ridge Street car park).
The market is operated by North Sydney Community Centre and hosts over 100 stalls among the trees and park setting of Civic Park (220 Miller Street). The markets happen on the second Saturday of the month and it is a delightful spot for a coffee, some browsing for bargains or a tasty lunch from the multicultural food stalls.
And if you are visiting North Sydney and looking for accommodation, Rydges North Sydney will give you a warm welcome and a rewarding stay.
