Concert ian 6/16/2014

She’s 21 years old… she sings... she is worth squillions… she holds the world record for the most tweeted about event… she is Miley Cyrus... and she has announced the tour dates for her October Australian tour.

The Bangerz tour dates and venues are:

  • October 10, Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne
  • October 16, Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Brisbane
  • October 17, Allphones Arena, Sydney
  • October 20, Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Adelaide
  • October 23, Perth Arena, Perth

Miley has had an interesting career/life to date and there’s no arguing that she knows how to belt out a song and put on a fun, sexy, over-the-top live concert.

For the non-fans, here's some Miley Cyrus trivia:

She was born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992 in Nashville Tennessee. Her father is country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and mother Leticia Jean ‘Tish’ Finley. He godmother is Dolly Parton. She smiled a lot as a baby and was given the nickname ‘Smiley’ which as later shortened to ‘Miley’. She was raised Christian and was baptized in a Southern Baptist church in 2005 before heading to the bright lights of Hollywood.

At age 10 she decided she wanted to become an actress and started taking lessons and doing auditions. She became a Disney darling when she scored the lead role in Hannah Montana,a series based around a teen with a double life as a schoolgirl and pop star.

As Hannah/Miley she started selling albums and sell-out concerts… she had become a brand worth a lot of money… at age 16 she became the youngest ever female artist to have four number one albums on the charts… in 2011 she was the highest paid teen in Hollywood, worth an estimated $120million…

Miley has a heart condition called tachycardia, a higher than normal resting heart rate (over 100 beats per minute). She caused a bit of tachycardia in some viewers who saw her twerking at last year’s MTV awards. While the BBC said she stole the show with her ‘raunchy performance’, one critic called it a "trainwreck in the classic sense of the word as the audience reaction seemed to be a mix of confusion, dismay and horror in a cocktail of embarrassment”. Whatever you call it, it certainly put the image of Hannah Montana to rest for good. That’s the ‘event’ that went off at 360,000 tweets a minute.

It will be interesting to see who her target demographic audience is – the younger teens may have trouble with parental censorship… the older ones, well, we’ll see… whatever happens it is pretty much a sure thing that she will come in like a wrecking ball.
