The V8 Supercars roll into Townsville for the exciting Castrol Townsville 500 from Friday July 4 to Sunday July 6. There is a full schedule both on track and off with an action-packed three days of racing as the cars and drivers do battle over 500km on the Reid Park street circuit.

Castrol Townsville 500Specially constructed roads form about 70% of the tough circuit that has become a favourite with the V8 Supercar drivers. Mark ‘Frosty’ Winterbottom says that the circuit is like a standard racing circuit but in the middle of a city. The circuit’s pit building is a permanent construction that is used year round for all sorts of events.  There are five viewing mounds and grandstands that can seat up approximately 12,000 spectators.

The Dunlop Series also takes to the streets of Townsville as the rising stars battle it out for crucial Championship points.

This is a weekend for the whole family with high octane entertainment for everyone. Little race fans will be busy in The Family Zone, plus Disney returns trackside with more new and exciting interactive activities. Kids 14 years and under receive free trackside admission with a paying adult (one child per ticket). Tickets trackside start at $45 and Grandstand from $65.

If you are travelling from out of town for this powerful and popular event, Rydges Southbank in Townsville will give you the warmest of winter welcomes and look after all your accommodation needs. Rydges is a few minutes from the racing action and there is a terrific three night accommodation package that includes free wi-fi and full buffet breakfast daily plus late checkout. More info here.
