Before he was 14 this boy knew that he and his guitar were destined to take a journey together and the journey continues forty years on. You can catch Graeme Connors in Townsville at the Townsville Civic Centre on Thursday, July 10 at 7:30pm.
If experience is not what happens to you – but what you do with what happens to you, Graeme has wisely used every bit of experience to create songs that are meaningful, light-hearted, poignant or political. While exploring his own experiences, he touches on emotions and events that his audience will have also shared. While he has recorded 18 albums and is on the Tamworth Walk of Fame with 14 Golden Guitar awards to his name, to call him a country singer creates a pigeon hole far too small. Rather than country and western he is more country and coastal that comes with a style of folk music that is easy on the ears as it tells a story.
This tour is called North 25 Years On. While Graeme has celebrated 40 years in the business, the original North album came out in 1988 and was recently voted #3 in the top 20 Best Australian Country Albums of all time. Earlier this year the album was remixed, re-mastered and repackaged with a bonus track, Our Native Son.
