A wee post to say Welcome Aboard Jimmy Quinn!

Jimmy Quinn - Exec ChefJimmy joins Rydges Southbank in Townsville as our new Executive Chef and by 'new' we don't mean that Jimmy is 'new' to executive cheffing, just that he's 'new' to us. Jimmy was previously Exec Chef at Rydges in Gladstone and that's how we know that he's also slightly 'noo' as in 'och aye the noo' because Jimmy is also known affectionately as The Loud Scotsman.

Just went Googling and apparently 'och aye the noo' translates as 'oh yes, just now' as opposed to 'och eye fillet the noo' which translates as 'oh yes, just cow'. And speaking of which, we have two eye fillets on the menu at our fabulous Southbank Grill - one that's 250g and comes with your choice of sauce or side and another that appears in a dish which is also Scottish by name, Death by Angus - this one is a 150g eye fillet with fat hand cut chips, braised beef short rib with plum sauce, petite beef pie, cauliflower puree, pepper syrup and red wine jus. So och aye the now you know... or something...

Anyway, welcome aboard, young Jimmy, and as they say in those highlands on Hogmanay, 'Lang may yer lum reek!' which translates as, 'May you never be without fuel for your fire!' And so say all of us!!!
