- Private rooms were absolutely fantastic. - Conference facilities were OK, old room and equipment but overall satisfactory. - Service level was satisfactory - nothing special - the conference room was not set up correctly on day 1 or day 2 (seating incorrect, no speakers, no projector, then when it did turn up nothing was set up for us!! thankfully there was one VERY helpful young man on the Monday evening who was more that willing to assist us get everything ready - thank you - his attitude could be shared with the others). A couple of times the morning and afternoon tea were a bit late, and no one really wanted to help, we felt like and inconvenience when we asked a question. - Disappointing that we had to convince the bar staff to allow us to purchase more drinks on the Tuesday night when we had dinner in the pavilion. No one wanted to help us. Our team was socialising well and despite the fact that we had completed our initial drinks package, we had informed Lauren Read already during event set up that we would continue 'on-consumption' following this. That message was obviously not communicated, you could have made a lot more profit from our group. We hold a lot of conferences across our business every year, so I am purely being honest about our experience at your hotel versus the standard we are used to.

Sails is the best place to stay, newly refurbished with spotless swimming pool and beautiful surroundings. The receptionists are very friendly and helpful, they gave me free upgrade to water view room upon request. My package was great value, with chocolate, free welcome drink, free buffet breakfast, lovely new room. The shower is really good, restaurant staffs are amazing; breakfast is good. I couldn't ask for more, will come back again very soon. Thanks a lot.

Overall excellent. However, frustratingly we could not use the restaurant on our first night as there was a function. Why were we not told this before we came or on arrival? The alternative was room service which was not an acceptable option. Similar happened on the second night. There was a function again. A small section of the restaurant was open, however with a limited menu. Again not acceptable and we were not told this on booking or arrival. In saying that however staff were understanding and the restaurant manager really did well to accommodate us with a slightly improved menu so well done here and to her. Regardless of functions hotel guests must always have access to the restaurant in some form, pushing room service as an alternative is not acceptable especially as guests like us do not like eating in their rooms and we have children too. This is our second stay and we would certainly come back. It will be interesting to see if I get a response to this review!!!

We loved our marina view upstairs room and all the activity on the water, which made our night extra relaxing. Room size was comfortable and King bed divine. Desk very useful as well as ample lighting and balcony setting. All amenities quality and clean. Foyer needs renovating but all new work is to a high standard. Our hot buffet breakfast was yum and an extra special thanks to our waiter, Sam, who was young, attentive and well presented. Well done to management for such quality personnel. Looking forward to returning for a longer stay and an evening meal. We have already posted these comments on TripAdvisor.

The refurbishment of the rooms has been very good and the ongoing work shows much promise. My stay was comfortable and the staff helpful.

We have stayed at Sails twice before, and always enjoy it. On this occasion we were very impressed with the renovations. The restaurant, rooms & staff are all exceptional. My one complaint is that 4 X items from the mini bar were incorrectly added to my bill on leaving, & I had to challenge the staff that these were not in fact used during our stay.

We enjoyed the Hotel, the staff were very helpful and the room was very nice. The only comment I would make is the atrium in the middle of the hotel needs lounges for guests to sit or something to make it not so clinical as it is a large bare open tiled area.

Stayed at sails resort for a weekend and was very impressed even thought it was winter and there are currently renovationshion going on (none of which affected my stay any) From the second the absolutly wonderful staff greated me at checkin (wish i got her name to say thankyou) to the awesome room i was more then yhapp with my stay here and will be back The staff couldn't be more friendly and the rooms haven't been just renovated are amazing, they have everything, good amount of storage great views, a soft dream bad, great bathroom, wall mounted LED TV with media inputs and free wifi (that actully works) Food wise there is a good selection of drinks in the mini bar if overpriced but thats normal for any hotel, the room service menu is also great and the restaurant is fantastic, the bar down stears is well stocked and bar staff are great, also only a 5 min walk from the center of town or settlement city and panthers across the street if your looking for other things. Outside there is a great pool area with a lovely garden and the resort rooms are surinder by lawn with bean bags to chill in (as we did for several hours in the sun) with the water right there just meters away My only down side was an extreamly small one and that was the parking on friday night with there only being one space available right next the garbage collection point and none of them where marker well (lines very faded meaning some people had taken 2 spaces) even with the resort not being full, this was mostly down to a number of parking spaces being occupied by building materials but overly not somthing id be loseing sleep over and had no problem parking the rest of my stay going in and out numerous time over the 3 days I will be takeing this the place i will stay when in Port in the future and would highly recommend to anyone be it a family or someone on work staying here The renovationshions will only improve this once complete

Stayed in a disabled room couldn't get wheelchair through the door luckily I can still move around on crutches, shower water flow very weak but floor was excellent non slip, lounge to sit on not suitable for disabled person, restaurant was ok not much variety on the menu, breakfast was excellent and the waiter we had for dinner and breakfast was very good to my disabled husband, wish I had got his name, reception staff very friendly. Stay in general very comfortable

Everything was perfect, the only small negatives I could think of is that someone had consumed some of the things in the bar and tried to hide it so I hope they don't get charged to us, also my partners steak at the restaurant was so chewy it was pretty much inedible and when you pay $36 for a steak you don't really expect that. But everything else was perfect and we really loved our stay and will be suggesting this for friends.

Checkin was a breeze, felt welcomed upon arrival, room was great (other than not exactly water view) but nice non the less, room service attendant was polite and well groomed, very professional, food was to expensive for amount that was given, needs to be bulked out with more carbs(potato or Vegas) room service doesn't need to be fine dining, if we want fine dining we would have gone to the restaurant, the club sandwich was way to small, barely anything on it and the chips were cold and undercooked, cheese platter a bit of a let down, scotch fillet could have been less burnt on the outside but Cooked well on inside (rare)- needed more potato gratin and sauce was to salty, lamb shanks were only half a lamb shank, and needed more mash and sauce and possibly extra veggies. All in all the stay was good, big king bed, exactly what we asked for, and we recieved the sparkling and chocolates on arrival as promised, nice touch, encouraged us to buy two more bottles, breakfast the following day was nice, average for a full buffet breakfast, staff were again well mannered and polite, check out was easy, and I believe that customers shouldn't have to pay a 1.5% fee for credit cards, but that's just me. I would recommend my stay to others, but I would not recommend the food, unless it changes, keep fine dining in the restaurant, have room service big hearty decent size meals, food costs can't be that bad you have to decrease meal size to make more money.

Overall a nice stay, clean room and well designed. Amenities arrived as promised in a timely manner too. I did find it odd that when we arrived there wasn't anyone at reception and I had to wait 3/4 minutes for someone to arrive. She was very friendly and efficient but it seemed out of place for a Rydges and would perhaps been more similar to an arrival at a motel. Also, bedding in the room was comfortable however it was very clearly a twin configuration as there was a noticeable and uncomfortable ridge in the middle of the bed. Breakfast was fine, simple but hot and fresh with friendly staff working on Monday morning who immediately acknowledged us and offered coffee. He was being very attentive to all the tables and clearing frequently. Overall a nice property that with a few small changes could become excellent (the lobby/atrium is very bizarre space).

We stayed here for 2 nights on the June Long Weekend (one of the good reasons to still be part of the Commonwealth!). We got a great deal with a 2-for-1 deal through being a Rydges Priority Guest Member. The Resort is located near the Marina right on the Hastings River, about 2.5 kms from the CBD - well within walking distance. Check in was a breeze, but unfortunately there was no-one at the Reception counter for about 5 minutes. We assumed the lady was elsewhere unexpectedly so thought nothing of it. There was one bright moment during check in which stood out. As I was taking advantage of a member's only special deal, she asked for my membership card - which I had never received. She said that was no problem, she could create one on the spot. 3 minutes later we had our membership card, enabling us to save 20% immediately on dinner at the Resort's restaurant that night. Nice! One other slightly annoying thing first up was the lack of cheese platter as pre-ordered when we booked. It took a phone call and a 30 min wait for it to arrive - not the best start. It did, however, just go up from there and stayed at a high standard. The room (we had chosen the Water View Suite) was large and well appointed, with a Queen bed and two single beds on opposite sides of the room. There was a sitting area with two couches in front of a wall mounted TV - which had a hidden compartment that swung down to reveal a number of external ports to connect items to the TV. Included here was an HDMI port, a VGA port for PC, USB and 3x RCA for old-school devices. This is one of those small touches which is completely unexpected in a room (like a kettle and tea and coffee) yet is completely awesome and immediately useful. Rydges are known for their Dream Beds, specially made for them by AH Beard we discovered. They were very comfortable and gave us a great night's sleep. Next to the sitting area was a small yet serviceable desk, with lamp. We had free Wifi as part of being a Rydges Member, so we didn’t have to use much of our own data - good to back photos up to the cloud! The bathroom had a separate vanity area, good for couples or families who need to use the facilities AND the sink at the same time (ie brushing teeth etc). The shower was excellent, with a steady and powerful flow. The one negative I found with the toilet area was only because I am 6ft 2. There is not much space between your legs and the shower glass when sitting on the toilet for tall people. It was a bit pokey. Also in the wet area was the closet, with the obligatory ironing board and safe etc. Also within was 3 extra down blankets, the kettle and suitcase racks. One of the doors was a mirror, so your lady will be happy. We had a reasonably sized balcony, with chairs and a small table, which overlooked the small Port Macquarie marina. This provided some great photo opps, especially around sunset. There is a gorgeous pool area but as it was winter (and raining) we didn’t use it. It would be awesome in Summer as it overlooks the Hastings River. We would definitely stay here again should we visit Port Macquarie again.

Reception staff and bar staff were excellent and friendly. Especially the guy who worked in the bar and restaurant on Saturday not sure what his name was, but he was very helpful and provided excellent customer service. The newly refurbished rooms are lovely. If i was to criticise anything of this trip it would be the meals. I always eat at the restuarant, it was certainly not up to the usual standard this trip. The menu does not appeared to have changed for ages and with the refurb coming, there was limited choices with wine. I hope your lovely waitress Elise is ok Thanks belinda

Sails resort was beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only slightly bad thing was the view from our room overlooked construction of new gardens.

Very nice hotel.. we had a lovely stay. Bed was very comfortable, all amenities were good. The swimming pool was awesome with a beautiful outlook on the river. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The only things I would suggest needs improvement is the water flow in the bathroom (sink not so much the shower).. took ages for the hot water to come. Also the fridge wasn't very cold for our bottles etc. Their not big issues and I would still definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

The only things I would suggest needs improvement is the water flow in the bathroom (sink not so much the shower).. took ages for the hot water to come. Also the fridge wasn't very cold for our bottles etc. Their not big issues and I would still definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Rooms were clean bed was fantastic and the pork burger was sensational my compliments to the chef. However I understand your are renovating the hotel and it looks great I try and stay here for work on a regular basis but as I pointed out to receptionist I only booked 2 days out as I wait for the price to fall if your not booked out. I understand you want to recoup your dollars spent of refurbishment but if the prices continue to rise I have no choice but to book at another hotel in the area but whilst I can get it at a price which won't get me in trouble with work I will continue to stay here.

The hotel was quiet and easy to access and work from. For convenience I used the in house restaurant however the food was below average, often over cooked and tough it was however very fast service. Reception and general staff were delightful.

Fantastic experience, I could not have asked for more.

The stay was great. The restaurant needs a better range of food however I understand that a new chef has just started so a new menu will arrive soon. The restaurant manager had excellent customer service

I regularly stay at Sails resort, for business reasons, but because of the quality of the facilities and the service offered by site staff, I also choose to holiday there with my family privately. I can't fault the people in any way, they are among the friendliest and most helpful staff I have ever encountered. The rooms are fantastic, the money that is being spent on the facelift is well worth it. It is a really top level place to stay.
