Great start to a holiday after long flight.
Special thanks to Vazan who helped us out of a very sticky situation with our safe at 4AM! Great hotel superb location for waterfront restaurants and ferries. Bed sooo comfortable. Highly recommended.

The staff offered to park my car , we were upgraded, we had a bar meal and a couple of drinks to in wind, with 1pm late checkout and a really nice room service breakfast we had a nice time!

I was disappointed to experience a fire evacuation for the second time in a row of staying. Last time 1am this time slightly better at 8am. While I understand these things do happen I waWhen I checked out I asked if they were offering discounts for the disruption to which I was told no. I asked what the reason for the alarm was and was told "it was a false alarm it does that sometimes" I would have thought that if there is a known ongoing fault the company would look to try and fix it to avoid such future disruptions to customers. I was even more disappointed to then find out another person I know checked out moments after me with a different staff member and was offered a 10% discount when they asked. Extremely disappointing snd I will certainly be thinking twice before choosing to stay ago.

Unfortunately a few days before our visit Ben was killed in a road traffic accident and fell in a river and drowned. I had his Rydges reward card with me which was at his apartment however upon arrival at the hotel because Ben was not with us, we ended up having to pay. It is a lovely hotel and I know he has stayed before due to owning a card. I didnt press the point being still upset about the accident as he was only 27 years of age. We understand that he worked for your company as an AV expert although we do not know who he worked with at Rydges. Despite the sadness, your hotel was a great choice that Ben made.

I was not expecting to have to carry a child over my shoulder down the stairs from the 14th floor, another child following and my mother (with her two artificial knee replacements) with a Fire Alarm Evacuation only to be told by other guests it was due to burnt toast - perhaps a better extractor fan is needed in that particular area. The only staff member we saw was the one outside our door who said we needed to get out. One or two in the stairwell giving direction or assistance would be good.

The pickup driver returned for us, which we appreciated, but could not discuss in length the reason for no refund. Reason given was flimsy. Then we had to pay $40 at the airport an hour later. The restaurant food offerings have fancy titles for less than good quality food. Why anyone would order a steak by 50 gram increments instead of just ordering a steak meal is beyond comprehension, which also takes additional time to compute. One does not need to carry a calculator to dinner to order less than good quality meat. Also, some starch and vegetables to go with the meat should be offered. Our service in the restaurant created some friction between ourselves and the wait staff, which we did not intend to happen or appreciate. Waiter was in too much of a hurry to listen carefully enough to get the order correct.

I am required to commute once a week to work in Auckland and to spend one or two nights there. The most convenient hotel for me to stay in is the Rydges.
I have now reached the stage where, when I arrive, I am greeted with familiar smiles and the receptionist often starts to check me in under my name without me having to prompt him or her.
I always have dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant, and there the staff are very friendly as well. The food is of a high standard and the dinner is served promptly.
In my hotel room, the occasional issues that I have had with things not working properly have been dealt with quickly and efficiently. The manager Quenton has now taken to sending me a welcoming card, drinks and eats, which is much appreciated.
Rydges is handy not only to my work, but also to my church, banking and shopping facilities and theatres.
The only problem I have overall is that Rydges is such a popular hotel that sometimes my secretary cannot book me in and I have to stay elsewhere.
I like coming to Rydges, and I see this as my Auckland home from home.

I originally was placed in a disabled room on level 8, which was a bit dated but originally fine until I used the shower and flooded the bathroom and nearly slipped over. I asked if there was a possibility of moving, and the man at reception was really lovely and arranged to move me to level 2. I went to the room that I was allocated, and found out that there was already someone in there (luckily not actually in the room at the time, but their stuff was there) - so I talked to another staff member in the hallway who was helpful and took me back downstairs where they sorted out another room, and the original man from reception accompanied me up there to ensure that the room was ready for me. The breakfast each morning was nice, and the bar was nice too, though it appears that we got charged for an extra coffee when we checked out (my husband assumed it was me and paid for it) - other than that no issues though.

My only real gripe however is your loyalty card. I have been staying at Rydges for 2-3 nights per week for the past three months and only at my last stay but one did anyone suggest and help me join your loyalty scheme. You could have told me a much earlier on. Additionally I wasn't allowed to get a refund at the desk for my 'complimentary' free drink that I had delivered to my room with a meal - I had to have purchased it at the bar. No big deal really though. It's this one issue, however, that prompts me to downgrade my usual impression of your hotel from excellent to good - sorry.
Still, I look forward to staying with you again next week.

I enjoy staying at this hotel however there is one thing that drives me mad. After I have checked out your hotel continues to make false and random charges to my credit card. These are not large amounts however in my mind is a massive breach of trust. I can only assume you feel that this may be mini bar charges. Firstly I do not use the mini bar and if I did I would expect to be charged at the time of check out as every time I am asked if I use the mini bar to which I respond no.
When these charges occur my PA phones up and the charges are quickly reversed blamed on a clerical error. I cannot help but wonder if someone in your business is trying to game this hoping the charges are so small that I will not notice. This is a MASSIVE breach of trust. All this has co-incided with a rate increase which makes me think it might be time to revisit my choice of hotel.

I enjoy staying at this hotel however there is one thing that drives me mad. After I have checked out your hotel continues to make false and random charges to my credit card. These are not large amounts however in my mind is a massive breach of trust. I can only assume you feel that this may be mini bar charges. Firstly I do not use the mini bar and if I did I would expect to be charged at the time of check out as every time I am asked if I use the mini bar to which I respond no.
When these charges occur my PA phones up and the charges are quickly reversed blamed on a clerical error. I cannot help but wonder if someone in your business is trying to game this hoping the charges are so small that I will not notice. This is a MASSIVE breach of trust. All this has co-incided with a rate increase which makes me think it might be time to revisit my choice of hotel.
If you can fix this problem then I think you have a quality proposition. If you cannot then people will leave. Choice is yours.

I was staying at your Hotel last week mainly for work, but decided to stay an extra night during the weekend, my partner joined me, and i must say it was the most pleasant stay we have had in Auckland to date, the staff were incredibly helpful, attentive and always had a smile, the Buffet breakfast was to die for as it had anything and everything you could want for Breakfast (including a Chocolate fountain) we loved the Green option for the rooms and the fact that you provided a $10 voucher per night was just icing on the cake (well technically it was coffees in the morning) we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay with you again, well done team and Thank you

As we are going in and out of the room, going out for our activities planned, so didn't notice it much and didn't pay much attention. It was until later at night, we went back to the room after dinner, the smell got stronger and stronger, was very unbearable. There's no visible mildew to the naked eye, but the mildew smell, strongest was the bathroom, but I can smell it in the room as well. The carpet is dark, so can't tell. After we called the customer service at reception, they were happy for us to change room and was very helpful, got a cleaner to deodorises the room at night.

Had room service they brought the wrong wine up but I think it was the person I ordered it too didn't know the difference between a Pinot Gris and Pinor Noir should of been Pinot Gris changed quickly. Breakfast always good.

I have stayed at the hotel a few times in the last 3 months, after previously using an altenative provider for my regular Auckland trips. This time unfortunately various things were not at an acceptable level.
1/ Room - why was I allocated such a small inferior room, with a tiny double bed? There were two of us using the room (which I advised on check in) and I was advised by reception it was suitable.
2/ Plug missing from bathroom - this was reported to your reception 7.30am on Thursday 18 June, but 7.30am on Friday 19 June still outstanding. This made shaving quite difficult.
3/ Noisy room - this was an extremely noisy location.
4/ Meal - Thursday 18 June - I had a meal in the evening at your Restaurant, but had to return the meal as it was sub standard (cold). I was still required to pay full price for this.
Will await your comments on this, before I decide whether to raise this with the bank's Procurement Manager, who manages the service levels from our preferred hotels.

Generally very good. Room was reasonably spacious and very tidy. Better view this time compared with the unwanted insights into apartment living across from the hotel. Cleaning was attended to well over the 3 nights. One concierge was a little patronising and officious. Put my bags in the middle of the floor almost because "there was an air crew loading up their bags". Quite unecessary really. The rest of the staff were very good. On Thursday night the bar staff however could not fulfil my dining guest's coffee order which didn't seem too hard really, a Vienna. Third stay in the hotel because our usual Sky City and Sky Grand were full along with Crowne Plaza. However, if Rydges can maintain sharp rates we would move.

Web checkin option great, I receive a text first thing in the morning to confirm if a room is available early, text confirmed no room available by midday. However I arrive at the hotel to be told that my room is ready however I was needed in the office so just requested my luggage to be delivered. I was handed my keycard inside it's holder clearly written with my room number. I arrive that evening and go straight to the restaurant/bar area before heading to my room, grab a meal, sign my name and room number to be approached moments later by staff asking if my room is under another name. I advise no and then am asked if I have the right room as it's showing under another name and they provide me with the correct name of this room. I show the staff member my keycard holder with my room number on it. They then go and speak to reception and come back soon after telling me that I need to go and see reception (I go even though it feels as if I'm off to see the principle). Reception advise me it was just a misprint by the morning staff, and that the guest in that room has been there for the whole weekend (that information didn't need to be shared with me and also the name of the guest) reception then asked for my room key, coded a new key and handed it to me, I then asked if they could send someone up to my room to check if my luggage is there. Later that evening when in my room I noticed that my luggage tag was also misprinted with the wrong room number and clearly overwritten. My concern here is IF I went to my room in the morning when told my room was ready it would have been a very awkward experience for both guests. Plus if it was a misprint only I can understand, but why did my room key need to be replaced, can it just not be scanned and checked?
Your Green option where the room is not serviced for a $10 voucher may not be worth it. I choose this option at any hotel that provides it and this was the first time with yours. I arrived back at my hotelroom on the first night I selected this option and could see my breakfast tray still in my room, bed not made, towels not changed, rubbish not emptied, nothing done at all I also understand this is to be ecofriendly but seriously the amount of the voucher compared to the amount of inhouse cleaning doesn't really balance out, the least that could be done is to clear the bins, remove meal trays (if needed) and restock breakfast menus/ bathroom products (also if needed). I had also asked if instead of a voucher could $10 just be credited to my room bill at the end, I was told by staff that it had to be used in the restaurant/bar only, this doesn't help if by some chance you don't go to the bar/restaurant and end up leaving with your vouchers at checkout, hence making them invalid.
Overall staff were accommodating & freindly. These 2 comments ^ ^ do not make me want to change my mind in staying at your hotel at a later time, but they were experiences that stood out.

Handy Location, Exceptional Staff.

Stayed on the weekend with one of the granddaughters. One of the nicest places we have stayed. From check in to checkout, the staff were exceptional, professional and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. A small hiccup with the room saw us moved to a larger room to accommodate the three of us. Staff immediately brought extra towels and crockery without having to be asked. Breakfast included with the booking was a really nice buffet to start the day. Kids of all ages liked the marshmallows and chocolate fountain. Easy access to Queen St and also the Viaduct. A quiet room, good wifi, comfy beds. Well recommended for your next stay in Auckland.

Nice room was very happy with the second queen sized bed in the room came in handy to get away from the mrs as she snores. Valet parking was ok could of been better. Very central location . .

Good - could be great with small amendments
Rooms are comfortable and pleasant - and the location is great. As I was travelling with business - internet connection is important, and this was a constant issue during my stay. This needs to be improved to attract the business ... more

As I was travelling with business - internet connection is important, and this was a constant issue during my stay. This needs to be improved to attract the business traveler on a more frequent basis.
Secondly - please include cappuccino's in the buffet breakfast. You are making enough profit to not have to add this as an extra. It deters from the overall experience and leaves a bad taste behind. Im happy to pay whatever the buffet costs, so don't take the piss and add coffee as additional. Its not professional, and its the small attention to detail that matters.
