Snow laden peaks in every direction, giant boulders dotting the horizon, the only sound you hear is the crunching of snow – step by step, it’s tranquil, it’s calm, and a world away from the buzzing resort slopes. It is the back country of the Snowy Mountains and it is ready to be explored.

Cross Country
Explore the back country whilst improving your fitness with the elegant art of the kick and glide or the power moves of skating. Technique is the key and a lesson in either skating or striding will set you on the right path.

Back Country
Rip turns through the untouched chutes and take in the awe-inspiring views on a half day trip to Dead Horse Gap or the Ramshead Range, or a full day trip to Mt Kosciuszko. Modern alpine touring skis and skins are available from Thredbo Sports Valley Terminal. Snowboards can also be used on these trips.
