We love staying at Rydges Camperdown. Our rooms always large, clean and quiet. The location is great. Close to the city and restaurants in Newtown and Enmore.

The staff make us so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Whilst parts of the hotel may seem dated it is comfortable with everything we need in the big spacious rooms. We enjoy the location which is also close to some pretty good restaurant areas if you explore the area.

The room was more than I needed, and the location was an easy distance to the city. However the tea situation was terrible, and the menu in the restaurant could perhaps do with some revision.

Rooms are tired and need new carpet, paint and undated bathrooms. The heating/cooling has no temperature control - its either on or off. Room service burger was bad: small nasty tasting patty, dry bun, minimal other fillings. Burgers can be great, good, or merely average but its a long time since Ive tried an unpleasant tasting one. Breakfast: hot food barely warm, cold food uninspiring. I suspect this hotel banks on the fact it has a captive audience in visitors the Uni and the hospital to stay in business.

3rd floor room, feeling very tired and unloved. Old carpet, chipped paint, scratched and chipped cabinetry in the room, re-painted bath/shower which is chipped and cracked. Cheap, thin toilet paper. BUT....... clean (not smelly), nice comfortable bed, nice bath products (soap etc.), well stocked minibar. Good breakfast options available. No problems with the free wifi. Location is the asset for this hotel, and if it updated and felt more welcoming, I would definitely stay here again. At this stage I will shop around for other options next time I need a hotel in the area.

Chose to stay here as needed to be close to RPA hospital, which it is. Good secure parking, clean rooms (although dated, however not a problem for us), friendly staff on arrival and checking out, close to public transport into the city with a bus stop right outside the hotel. WE HAD FAMILY AT RPA HOSPITAL,WAS CLOSE TO THERE AND BUSES STOP RIGHT OUT THE FRONT FOR THE 412 BUS. COULDN"T FAULT HOW OUR ROOM WAS LOOKED AFTER EACH DAY AND RECEPTION STAFF WERE ALWAYS FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. WOULD NOT HESITATE TO STAT THERE AGAIN . THANKYOU.

Ordered champagne on arrival. To arrive and check in, the lady behind the desk knew nothing about it. Go to our room which smelt like old mould, had exposed wires, one PowerPoint was faulty, broken glass in the fridge. Called down to reception again asking for my champagne I’d pre purchased.. car park is an absolute joke if you want parking in the basement. Tiny car parks, my only option was to park on the side and hope I wasn’t in anyone’s way.

Stayed for 4 nights in a spacious, well-equipped room with a fantastically comfortable bed. The buffet breakfast was a bit disapppointing - a bit too greasy - although there was, of course, cereal and fresh fruit. Staff were polite and helpful - moved us on arrival as we were next to a group of lads celebrating a bucks’ turn. The rate was very reasonable - I suppose because of the holiday period.

Every part of our stay was excellent, especially the staff. Only pity the restaurant was closed for evening meals on this particular week.

We came to Syd from Tassie for a concert just for one night. Location was easy to find and close to the bus route and Newtown eating area. Room was good for what we wanted, close to the city and comfortable. Beds were really nice! The only issue I had was that there wasn't any vegan options on the menu otherwise we would of eaten in the hotel. Also no option for soy milk for tea/coffee etc.

Motel is very old and very dated. Over priced rooms, half motel empty. Most guests are relatives of RPA patients, mostly pensioners, so way over priced for these people. A joke to charge guests for any parking. Meals are very poor and dear as poison. Builders making heaps of nose and smoking while fitting out new lift. No Good, No Warning of this when booking room. Old lifts are working very poorly. Your not in the centre of Sydney, but charge the same price for poor old smelly rooms. Staff were nice, but they understand that their motel is very second rate. Two star motel at its best. Wouldn’t recommend this motel to anyone. Pick your act up. I say & quick !!!!! Adam

We were only booked in for 1 night as our daughter was in RPA hospital, However we required a 2nd night & the Reception Lass juggled the other bookings around so that we could stay in the same room we were in. ( Much appreciated ) We are happy to recommend Rydges and will stay there again when necessary.

The staff at Rydges Camperdown were welcoming and friendly. Our room was clean with a view of the city. The hotel's location is close to public transport and a short walk to King Street, Newtown and its many restaurants. Rydges at Camperdown was also reasonably priced.

Location to RPA hospital is the most important reason we continue to stay. The hotel is in need of a make over but is comfortable and the staff treatment of us is great we have come to know them well and most helpful.

As noted, the motel is conveniently located close to the city, with city buses outside the entrance, comfortable rooms, a nice restaurant and bar, and extremely friendly and helpful staff, all for a reasonable price.

Our stay went well. We were able to book the accommodation we required. The member benefits were fantastic, late checkout without ridiculous cost. However, the negative is the cost of the rooms does not match the star ratings. Very overpriced for 3 star decor. Tired decor, bathrooms and furniture. Years past renovation time. Also charging $25.00 for parking underneath the building is very greedy. The parking underneath is disorganised and dangerous.

Initially my stay was for 1 night then I found out I was to have more tests at RPA (terminal illness etc) so I increased my stay to 4 nights and needed an extra so 5 in all. I could not fault it. I loved my room, you definitely put a smile on my face with the view which made my stay even better. I just felt compared to other hotels in the area and in Sydney that the parking was very hefty at $25 pn. I will be coming back in a few more weeks to do it all again.

I found the room a very good size, plenty of room with king size bed plus table and chairs. Large windows allowed plenty of light, however view was not great out the back. The bathroom however was not good at all. The tiles around the taps had not been cut properly and there were quite large gaps around fawcet and taps that you could actually see into the wall. There was actually hair on the tile in the shower so cleaning was not done propertly. Shower curtain not appealing due to possibility of harbouring germs. The whole motel is extremely dated, even smells old in hallways, foyer etc. This motel is very convenient to where we wanted to go which was University of Sydney and we paid a very good price compared to other properties nearby so I am partly satisfied. It served a purpose but would never stay here if needed more than just overnight. Car parking is plenty and easily accessible.

Did not clean the rooms well and knocked on the doors early wanting to come in and clean well prior to check out time or at reasonable times when we stayed for five nights due to a sick family member in RPA. Hi I think the queen bed/single bed room was good value for money, but your reception staff never once greeted or acknowledged us as we entered the building (except upon check-in when we were physically at the desk). A friend who dropped us there has worked in the hotel industry before - his comments were that there was not 'attention to detail' - for example, we had a new bar top on our bar that was still in plain wood not sanded or stained to attempt to match the existing unit. Carpet in our room was threadbare in places. Great view down parramatta road and I enjoyed having the facility to open the window. Bar area downstairs was great, as was the free drink voucher. Some 'finishing touches' - small things, e.g. having numbers of a uniform size on signs, etc. could all help. Can I suggest you enlisting my friend who is a hotelier consultant to improve on a few things? I'd be happy to supply his number to you.

People complain that the rooms are tired and old BUT they are big and spacious. They have all the amenities you could want. No complaints here

My initial and subsequent stays have been great. Check-in is a breeze and the friendly and helpful staff make the experience memorable. This includes reception, bar, dining room and housekeeping staff. The rooms, although slightly dated, are clean, comfortable, with plenty of room. Location is perfect for Sydney University, Residential Colleges and RPA. Easy walking and great bus services are provided.

We weren't offered our welcome drink voucher when we checked in this time so we told the waiter at breakfast the next morning and he kindly agreed to make us a coffee - but we should not have needed to ask for it. The room was shabbier than we had last stay. Hot breakfast was cold and not worth $30 each.

Hotel was as advertised, easy to get to, parking was easy, but I never tried the underground option. Couple of minor niggles, the cable ducting at the windows was annoying as I kept kicking it as I stood at the window, and the cost of the breakfast seemed excessive at $24. I realise there are overheads but I doubt I could have eaten $24 worth of food given what was on offer. I will use the hotel again as those minor issues were not off-putting.

Being semi retired, I am doing a part time Uni Course at UTS. We always stop at Rydges Camperdown for the 3 day lecture blocks, as they really look after us and give us our favourite room. One thing that needs improving is the fresh fruit options for breakfast. It has now been cut back to a bowl of watermelon and rock melon blocks. There used to be a bigger variety years ago with bowls of peaches and prunes available as well. They do make the little smoothies sometimes, and that needs to be encouraged.

Having stayed recently at the Rydges Hotel in Canberra, Brisbane and World Square Sydney, i was looking forward to staying at your hotel. I had finished a business trip 7pm Friday night and instead of flying home I stayed an extra night at my own expense before flying home late Saturday morning. The tariff was moderate but frankly I would have paid a bit more for a better standard of decor/room condition. The room was tired with patched tiles in the bathroom and poor workmanship on repairs. the basin had been replaced recently but nothing else in the bathroom had been for several years (I did ask for a free standing shower but I was given a shower over a tub). The TV and bed worked fine, the Check-In staff were friendly and I appreciated the morning newspaper. Perhaps the best way I could put it is I am due to come to Sydney with my wife for a weekend away. we have events in the city but the price of hotels is much more expensive and thought the short distance from the city would offset the moderate tariff. I decided I would not book until after I had stayed at your hotel. Sadly I have decided that I will pay the extra to stay in the city. I understand this is not what you want to hear but you have asked for my feedback and while blunt, this is how I felt after staying in your hotel. Arrived and asked for another room due to the tired state of the first one. The second room was only better because it was roomier. Couldn't turn on the air conditioner because it was so noisy. Have stayed at this hotel before and over the years it has been getting worse - it's clear to see no money is being spent on keeping it maintained or clean. There were run marks from something in the lift. Staff were friendly and accommodating even though I felt like I was complaining. I get that they only work there and can't control the condition of the hotel. I wouldn't say the cost reflected the state of the hotel room/s. It wasn't that cheap and for $30 more we could have stayed in the city in a more modern and comfortable room. We were also then slugged another $25 for parking.

Rydges Camperdown is exceptionally convenient for city engagement. The rooms are comfortable and clean, if somewhat dated in decor and furnishings. The front desk staff are very helpful and polite. My wish would be for quieter air conditioning

Front desk staff were amazing, we got into our room 4hrs early which was greatly appreciated as we had just arrived on an overnight flight. They were pleasant, helpful and kept us informed. Room was clean and beds comfortable, however the bathroom is in need of an upgrade. Grout on tiles was flaking away & discoloured.

Everything else was very good, service was wonderful, staff arranged taxis for us, lent us an umbrella, helped us with directions,staff in the restaurant were pleasant. Even the housemaid on floor 7 was wonderful, she greeted us every morning asked after our day told us to make sure we come back and visit your Hotel again, we really found her lovely. My partner works in retail and she said she would hire the cleaner lovely customer service. My partner may have to attend RPA in the future and we will stay again, though we will book directly with you next time.

I found every thing good except the larger girl on the afternoon shift at the courtesy desk, she was rude and abrupt. I felt she was unapproachable and I wanted to speak to them on the counter as felt I wasn't able to discuss a problem I had. My father had taken ill while I was staying there and had to shorten my stay, I was so stressed that the girl wound be on in the morning to discuss this with that I hardly slept at all. Luck for me there was a lovely young lady and gentleman on the counter and they were so supportive and understanding of the situation. I always stay with Rydges and find the rooms clean and beds comfortable, I usually have breakfast but on this occasion being stressed I did not purchase breakfast. I plan on staying there again and hope the larger girl at the courtesy desk is either not on the shift or has learnt some customer service with a positive attitude.

We stayed the night before my surgery at road. Everything was perfect. I wasn't able to go home as planned so my husband went back and booked in for another night. They were very accomodating. The ability to leave the car there all day was fantastic.

We stayed here on a Saturday night to attend a function at the Australian Technology Park. The hotel shows its age and has basic facilities. However the rom was clean and fresh, as was the bathroom. The staff were friendly and obliging. It was a small taxi fare away from our function and heaps cheaper that the same type of accomodation in the city.

Booked in short notice, but was a really nice stay and I was happily surprised by the large room size and the view, even from the non-city side. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was the parking that felt like I was Pacman trying to evade ghosts while winding through an Operation! man's body in a large car. Was a relief to have parking though and it tested my driving skills. 10/10 would recommend and stay again.

I guess the first thing I noticed was the chewing gum (or what ever it was) on the floor of the lift. The front doors looked like they hadn't been cleaned for an age. Complete with dust, finger marks etc.

Good morning, Pamela and I had the pleasure of staying for 2 nights last week whilst she had some surgery and treatment at RPA. We really needed this to be as stress free as possible. We had spent a few hours travelling from Nowra on the south coast and were hoping to relax. Indeed...The whole Rydges process was seamless. Checking in was effortless and the room proved to be clean , spacious and functional. Special thanks to the young gentleman managing the restaurant, as he couldn't have been more obliging. He was attentive without smothering us, and his hospitality training and skills were obvious. Both Pamela and I have hospitality backgrounds, and found the time spent in the bar / restaurant really helped take the edge off an otherwise daunting day. After speaking to the restaurant manager, we joined up to the rewards program, enjoyed a lovely dinner and, as we were to return for the post surgery follow up this week, we didnt hesitate to re-book on checkout on the 31st August. Pamela even requested the same room for the stay on Sunday 4th September . It was reassuring to think we were coming back to familiar and predictable surroundings, as we will likely be returning to RPA repeatedly over the coming months We arrived Sunday night late, around 7pm , Pamela attempted check in, with a little difficulty, I put it down to being tired from travelling. Once it was done, we then went to book into restaurant only to find it wasn't open ... We are both vegetarian, and hadn't eaten since Breakfast, and were looking forward to relaxing with a meal before going to bed. Pamela was not fit to go out in the night air, so it was a bit frustrating. I did notice the restaurant operating hours in the room compendium. We found it odd that a major motel had no food available on a Sunday night , particularly as we were not close to many food outlets, but as I said, we should have checked. As a general note, we didn't feel as welcome on the second visit . Contrary to our first stay, the breakfast dining atmosphere was clinical and uninviting . Staff were busy behind the counters and interaction was minimal . The gentleman who attended to us on our first visit, came out to greet us and couldn't have been more helpful. On this occasion we were asked our room number and our selection from a distance, then left to it. I trust you will accept our few criticisms in good faith. I guess the first thing I noticed was the chewing gum (or what ever it was) on the floor of the lift. The front doors looked like they hadn't been cleaned for an age. Complete with dust, finger marks etc.

Good morning, Pamela and I had the pleasure of staying for 2 nights last week whilst she had some surgery and treatment at RPA. We really needed this to be as stress free as possible. We had spent a few hours travelling from Nowra on the south coast and were hoping to relax. Indeed...The whole Rydges process was seamless. Checking in was effortless and the room proved to be clean , spacious and functional. Special thanks to the young gentleman managing the restaurant, as he couldn't have been more obliging. He was attentive without smothering us, and his hospitality training and skills were obvious. Both Pamela and I have hospitality backgrounds, and found the time spent in the bar / restaurant really helped take the edge off an otherwise daunting day. After speaking to the restaurant manager, we joined up to the rewards program, enjoyed a lovely dinner and, as we were to return for the post surgery follow up this week, we didnt hesitate to re-book on checkout on the 31st August. Pamela even requested the same room for the stay on Sunday 4th September . It was reassuring to think we were coming back to familiar and predictable surroundings, as we will likely be returning to RPA repeatedly over the coming months We arrived Sunday night late, around 7pm , Pamela attempted check in, with a little difficulty, I put it down to being tired from travelling. Once it was done, we then went to book into restaurant only to find it wasn't open ... We are both vegetarian, and hadn't eaten since Breakfast, and were looking forward to relaxing with a meal before going to bed. Pamela was not fit to go out in the night air, so it was a bit frustrating. I did notice the restaurant operating hours in the room compendium. We found it odd that a major motel had no food available on a Sunday night , particularly as we were not close to many food outlets, but as I said, we should have checked. As a general note, we didn't feel as welcome on the second visit . Contrary to our first stay, the breakfast dining atmosphere was clinical and uninviting . Staff were busy behind the counters and interaction was minimal . The gentleman who attended to us on our first visit, came out to greet us and couldn't have been more helpful. On this occasion we were asked our room number and our selection from a distance, then left to it. I trust you will accept our few criticisms in good faith. Book in was over the phone and very easy. Great location. Close to transport. Nice restaurant. Air-conditioner control was broken.

It is annoying to find a kettle that can't be fitted under the sink tap to be filled and needing to use a cup. It is also annoying to find a kettle on the breakfast bar but the only available power point across the room and the glass shelf in the bathroom too small and fragile to support the kettle. Our third adult had little or no sleep in the trundle bed because the mattress springs clearly felt made it too uncomfortable. The undercover car parking is an important aspect for us and the staff were polite and helpful.

the room we had 311 which was near the lifts was not sound proofed at all all you could hear was lift cables running the sound was constantly waking myself and my wife ( the night before Brain surgery)

As a regular because of medical reason , the rooms could do with a spruce up and the dining room menu needs to change occasionally.

I was quite disappointed with our room 408, there was mold in our shower, a Calcium or grim build up in the bath tub, the carpet was worn and dirty, the room was cold, the fire door next to our bedroom would bang all night and the room smelt like smoke, old stale smoke. The hairdryer kept falling off the wall, the toilet seat was broken and the wifi didn't work.

A good venue with great, helpful staff, but my room was opposite the lift which had a damaged guide wheel so it thudded through the night (like a muffled jackhammer in the street!) So not the greatest for a quiet rest.

Room was dirty and very old. I found a long dark hair in my bed and the bathroom is old, shower pressure is terrible. Not a very comfortable stay unfortunately however my company insists on booking me there.

I only stayed for a few hours, but all was good. Friendly and helpful front desk, clean and comfortable room, appreciated the free wifi, which is one of the essentials these days. I could see hat the bathroom perhaps needed some refresher paint, but that was not a concern at all. Chose it to be close to the hospital.

Room had a disgusting mildew smell, the room was uncomfortably hot, air conditioning couldn't be changed, it was too cold and noisy to open the window to let fresh air in. Bathroom was not very clean, lots of mould and mildew and peeling paint. I didn't sleep well, the mildew smell affected my asthma and I have had to go to the Doctor. This was my third stay in less than 12 months, the first two visits were very good that is why I chose to stay here this time. This time I was very disappointed, the staff weren't very helpful when I told them about my issues with the room either. Sick patients and their families utilise this hotel because of it's proximity to RPA, how sad and disgraceful that their health and recovery could be severely jeopardised due to the substandard of cleanliness and client comfort. Maybe I was just unlucky this time, would have to seriously think twice about using this hotel again.

We understand that it is an old building and is in need of a little TLC. The staff at the hotel we great and very helpful so we do not have any complaints there.

Clock radio/phone not plugged in. Pulled the bedside locker forward to plug in, filthy dirty. Plugged in but didn't work. Bedside lamp on other side also unplugged but I connected it. Tv signal poor. Iron leaked water everywhere when I tried to use. Bed sheets has what looked like blood spots on them. No shampoo but 2 conditioners! Shower quality poor. Bed blanket had long hairs on it. Air conditioning did not work correctly and dial was in Fahrenheit. Even at maximum the air was cold. This hotel is in desperate need of modernisation. Bar service was terrible. Staff nice but only one person to look after everyone. Will still recommend Rydges brand - but not this hotel.

Excellent location to bus stops and not to far to walk to the shops at the top of Missenden road and to Sydney park where I attended the park run on Saturday morning. We like staying at this hotel, great location and for the most part it's always been pretty good. Some of the rooms have been updated which creates the problem of inconsistency between stays etc. The room we had most recently was grubby, there was a sticky substance on the wall near the bed and the bathroom floor was in dire need of a really good clean. Disappointing.

Service was great, rooms are a bit dated but clean. Air con could be a bit easier to set temp, You would have got a 5 if I wasn't charged a fee for my Visa that included a profit margin for Rydges. I believe the law allows for recovery of fee's not a profit. I run a minute business & I pay less than 1.2%. You charged 1.5 %. That's a huge margin

This is the first time I have stayed at the Rydges Camperdown for quite awhile, although I would stay at Rydges hotels at least 20-25 nights a year. The staff where very pleasant and the room quite, so no complaints there. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, so again no complaints. In fact the only complaint (if you want to call it that) I have is that compared to other hotels in the Rydges group it is looking very tired and appears to need a complete makeover. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is not dirty and doesn't have ripped carpets like others (non-Rydges) I have stayed at in the past. It is simply that the furniture and fixtures are showing their age and could use being replaced with something more modern. Would I stay there again if I need to be in that area of Sydney? Yes. Is it the ugly duckling of the Rydges group? Yes
