Grandvewe Cheese Affinage Experience
Located approximately 40 minutes’ drive from Rydges Hobart, this is your opportunity to experience authentic Hobart culture and cheese!
Meet “The Girls” (as the sheep are fondly known), taste up to 15 different cheeses and enjoy a wine while viewing the whole process of cheese making and maturing. All this is set against the backdrop of Hobart’s breathtaking farmland with rolling hills and deep blue of the bay.
The Cheese Affinage Experience
Join the head cheese maker during the day to day activities inside the boutique Grandvewe cheese factory – the only opportunity to get inside access to a real working cheesery in Hobart.
Available experiences change daily and may include:
- Turning and wiping open matured cheeses
- Piercing the award winning Blue cheese
- Hooping cheese (when cheese making)
- Inoculating fresh curd
- Salting cheese by hand
While engaging in these tasks you receive a one on one experience with the head cheese maker and opportunity to talk about any cheese making questions and techniques.
After the affinage, visitors will be taken through a cheese tasting with the cheese maker.
