Bondi Beach
Located in Sydney’s East along the coast, Bondi Beach is synonymous with sun, sand and surf. It has been a popular location for Sydney siders as well as people all over the globe since early 1900s.
The Bondi Surf Bathers’ Life Saving Club was formed in 1907 after the increasing popularity of sea bathing raised concerns about public safety and how to prevent people from drowning.
It was the world’s first documented surf life saving club and patrol members wearing their distinctive red and yellow quartered caps first appeared at Bondi.
Each year Bondi Beach plays host to one of the world’s largest free to the public events, Sculptures by the Sea. This art installation stretches along the Bondi Beach to Tamarama coastal walk, featuring over 100 sculptures by local and overseas artists. Happening each year, starting in late October and finishing early in November, this one is a must see if you are in town around this time.
