Sustainability at Rygdes World Square
Our Commitment to Sustainability
We’re taking a fresh approach to a more sustainable stay in Sydney.
To keep nurturing our communities, local and far.
From the choices we make to the way we operate, we’re focused on doing better. Every day.
We’re building a more environmentally friendly hotel in Sydney, where sustainability isn’t just about the goals we set, light years away – it’s about the path we’re already on.
And at Rydges World Square, we’re making it easier for our people, guests and partners to travel alongside us.
Together, the future’s bright.

Designing for the future
We are building sustainability into the way we update and run the hotel:
- Invested in paperless check-in and digital invoicing to reduce paper consumption.
- Achieved a 4-star NABERS Energy Rating and 3-star NABERS Water Rating.
- Installed water refill stations and recycling facilities throughout the hotel.
- Event planning consultations include sustainable options to help organisers reduce their environmental footprint.
- Continue to invest in operational improvements that reduce waste, water use and resource consumption.
Playing our part
We are choosing to respond to a changing climate, empower our people and customers to take part, and share our progress along the way.
- Introduced our Room Refresh program, offering a $10 food and beverage voucher when guests opt out of daily housekeeping to help reduce water and energy consumption.
- Reduced waste through local beer kegs that eliminate glass bottle waste and takeaway cups made from certified home-compostable plant-based materials.
- Increased recycling by separating cardboard, glass, plastics, cans, batteries, toner cartridges and e-waste from landfill.
- Recycle toner cartridges, batteries, e-waste and mobile phones to keep hazardous materials out of landfill.
- Implemented a sustainable snack station in our conference and event spaces, offering nutritious options for delegates.
- Supported our communities through STRETCH Workplace Giving and partnerships including Westmead Children’s Hospital, RSPCA, Cancer Council, Starlight Foundation and Badgerys Creek Wildlife Sanctuary.
- Partnered with The Schwartz Foundation’s Room For Hope initiative to support youth employment and training opportunities.

- Reuse your towels by hanging them on the bathroom hooks to help reduce water and energy consumption.
- Refill your reusable water bottle at our filtered water stations and bring a reusable bag when shopping to help reduce single-use waste.
- Recycle where you can by leaving recyclable materials next to your bin for our Housekeeping team to collect and sort.
- Explore Sydney sustainably by using public transport, walking where possible, or choosing a hybrid or electric vehicle. EV charging is available in our car park.
