Capitol Theatre

The Impressive cinema first opened in 1924. Originally the cinema was used during the early silent film era. Dramatic lightening was used in conjunction with the orchestral scores to enhance the films emotion. Saddened that movies now rarely screen at the Capitol Theatre, but it is still one of the most exceptional and historical theatres in Melbourne. The Theatre was bought in 1999 by RMIT and is undergoing a refurbishment program. However it is open to the public with special events along with RMIT events and programs.
