We are choosing suppliers and products that help us reduce our environmental impact while enhancing the guest experience.

• Introduced large-format Distillery bathroom amenities to reduce single-use plastic waste.
• Replaced single-use bathroom amenities with refillable pump dispensers.
• Installed water refill stations to encourage guests to use reusable water bottles.
• Swapped single-use plastic water bottles with glass bottles alternatives.
• Added large-format taps for water, juice and milk to reduce packaging waste.
• Using recycled and recyclable takeaway packaging options where practical.
• Prioritise seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and partner with suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability, helping support local producers and showcase the best of the region.
• Support local suppliers, producers and service providers wherever practical.

Together, these steps show that small, thoughtful choices – whether in sourcing, service, or day-to-day operations, can create a big difference for our planet and community.

We are building sustainability into the way we update and run the hotel:

• Provide electric vehicle charging stations for guests.
• Energy-efficient LED lighting installed within portions of the property.
• Use motion-sensor lighting in selected areas to reduce energy consumption.
• Preferences given to high-efficiency appliances during hotel upgrades.
• Accessing energy and water efficiency of new equipment when replacing assets.
• Installed water-saving fixtures, including low-flow taps and dual-flush toilets, to help reduce water consumption.
• Utilise air conditioning systems with low-impact refrigerants.
• Transitioned from water-cooled to air-cooled chillers to reduce water consumption.
• Shutdown procedures developed for lighting, air conditioning and appliances when areas are not in use.
• Use digital documents, QR codes and electronic communications where practical to reduce printing.
• Provide electric vehicle charging stations for guests.

We are responding to a changing climate, empower our people and customers to take part, and share our progress along the way.

• Introduced our Room Refresh program, rewarding guests with a $10 food and beverage voucher each night they choose to opt out of housekeeping, helping reduce water and energy consumption.
• Provide dual waste and recycling bins in our conference rooms. Guests are encouraged to separate waste within rooms and housekeeping supports in managing separation.
• Encourage guests to refill reusable water bottles at onsite water refill stations, helping reduce single-use packaging.
• Promote mindful travel by avoiding the purchase of heritage artefacts or products derived from rare or threatened species.
• All staff complete and have access to the Sustainability @EVT e-module.
• Support the EVT Stretch Contributions program, enabling team members to contribute to trusted community and conservation partners, including The Starship Foundation, New Zealand SPCA, New Zealand Mental Health and WWF New Zealand
• Support biodiversity, conservation and environmental restoration initiatives in local communities.
