Sourcing Responsibly
We are choosing suppliers and products that help us reduce our environmental impact while enhancing the guest experience.
- Replaced single-use bathroom amenities with refillable pump dispensers.
- Installed water refill stations in guest areas and provided glass carafes in guest rooms.
- Partnered with The Udder Way to supply milk on tap via reusable kegs.
- Sourced juice in reusable containers to help reduce packaging waste.
- Partnered with local food and beverage suppliers throughout the Rotorua region.
- Supported community partnerships that strengthen our local connections.
- Maintained two on-site beehives that support local biodiversity and produce honey enjoyed by guests during their stay.

- Heating our swimming pool using Rotorua’s natural geothermal energy.
- Energy-efficient LED lighting with motion sensors in selected areas.
- Electric vehicle charging stations for guests.
- High-efficiency appliances installed during hotel upgrades.
- Air conditioning systems operating with low-impact refrigerants.
- Transitioning from water-cooled to air-cooled chillers to reduce water consumption.
- Landscaping with native, drought-tolerant plant species.
Playing Our Part
We are choosing to respond to a changing climate, empower our people and customers to take part, and share our progress along the way.
- Introduced our Room Refresh program, rewarding guests with a $10 food & beverage voucher each night they choose to opt out of housekeeping, helping reduce water and energy consumption.
- Reduced paper use through digital guest services, online ordering platforms and a digital guest compendium.
- Offered paperless check-in and check-out.
- Set up meeting rooms without notepads and pens unless requested.
- Diverted food waste from landfill through EcoStock’s food waste recovery programme.
- Returned packaging materials to suppliers wherever possible.
- Donated furniture and surplus items from refurbishments to local charities.
- Provided recycling bins in all guest rooms.
- Recycle paper, cardboard, glass, metals and most plastics throughout the hotel.
- Encouraged guests to participate in waste reduction and recycling initiatives during their stay.
