The Victoria Bridge will take visitors to the newly rejuvenated Flinders Street shopping precinct.

Considerable ties to the Defence Force and an ever-growing mining population ensure this burgeoning regional centre will continue to go from strength to strength.

The Strand

A 2.5km beachfront promenade with a jetty, cafes, picnic areas & BBQ, a free water park and magnificent headlands. The Strand development put the paradise back in to Townsville.

With events close to every weekend and a walking track with million dollar views the whole way, The Strand is possibly the busiest public space in Townsville.

Rydges Townsville is just 15 minutes walk across the Dean street bridge and down Flinders street East to the Strand. With the Rock pool at the Western end and the Tobruk Memorial Pool in the east, don't forget your togs!

Magnetic Island

Take a day trip to the beautiful Magnetic Island, located less than 20 minutes from Townsville city by high speed passenger ferry. The Magnetic Island Day Tripper package includes return ferry tickets for each person staying as well as full buffet breakfast in Southbank Grill.

The ferry departs sixteen times daily from Breakwater Terminal which is a lovely 15 minute walk from the hotel.

Reef HQ

Expericence the Great Barrier Reef without getting wet at the world's largest living coral reef aquarium. As the National Reef Education Centre for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Reef HQ Aquarium will open your eyes to an amazing world filled with thousands of charismatic marine creatures. With impressive exhibits the aquarium offers an ever changing, always fascinating experience, showcasing rare and extraordinary features of the Great Barrier Reef. Open daily from 930am - 5pm (except Christmas Day), it is recommended to allow 2 - 3 hours to experience all Reef HQ has to offer.

Billabong Sanctuary

Located 17km South of Townsville, Billabong Sanctuary is an 11ha wildlife park not to be missed.

Referred to by Total travel.com as 'the best interactive wildlife park' the billabong is chock full of native animal sure to enthral the whole family. Kangaroos, Koalas, snakes and Lizards and of course far North Queenslands ever popular Crocs!

Maritime Museum of Townsville

Opened in 2001 to the Public, the Maritime Museum's main attraction is its ever growing 'Ship Complex' which includes the HMAS Townsville. 

Located on the southern bank of the Ross River at the end of Palmer street, the museum overlooks the Townsville Motor Boat Club. The Museum includes a number of exhibitions  and pieces including the Seafarers Gallery, an history fo the port through photography, The Bay Rock lighthouse, a real lighthouse relocated and preserved on the site and the federation gallery and boatshed.

The Museum is open Weekdays 10-3pm and weekends 12-3pm. Rydges Townsville is located just down the street only a short stroll away.

Museum of Tropical Queensland

The Musuem of Tropical Queensland is a museum of natural history located right on the bank of the Ross River in the Townsville CBD.

The main attraction at the Museum is the Pandora gallery, a detailed history of the ill fated boat which sank while giving chase to the Bounty.

The Museum has a whole range of exhibitions to interest the entire family and located in the Reef HQ complex, is ideal for a day of educational family fun.
