The Rocks
Spending some time in The Rocks is a must-do Sydney experience – locals have been enjoying it for many years, through many generations of families.

The Museum of Contemporary Art is located at 140 George Street, The Rocks, NSW, 2000 and presents contemporary art from Australia and across the globe. Their exhibitions are continually changing which means there is always something new and exciting at the MCA. They offer free guided tours of their exhibitions held most Sundays with talks by Artists, Curators and Industry professionals.
The Australian was officially opened on 12th August 1824, originally on George Street, when the plague hit Sydney in 1900, many buildings were pulled down to prevent further outbreaks, including the Australian Hotel. The license was then transferred to a new building located on the Archaeological site nearby at 116 Cumberland Street.
Ken Done is one of Australia’s most famous artists. His work has been described as the most original style to come out of Australia, and his paintings are in collections throughout the world. Exhibitions at the Ken Done Gallery, housed in the magnificent heritage Australian Steam Navigation Building, are continuously changing and focus on the Australian landscape – the tropics, Sydney Harbour and the foreshore – as well as the artist’s personal environment.
