The Powerhouse has a range of upmarket room styles from brand new 5 star Powerhouse King Rooms, Suites, Family Rooms and 2 Bedroom Kitchen Suites to Superior Queen Rooms and King Spa Apartments. All rooms feature complimentary Espressotoria coffee pod machines, marble bathroom, luxurious toiletries, bathrobes and apartment bathrooms have spas and underfloor heating. All seasonal menus at The Workshop Kitchen focus on fresh local New England produce. A wood-fired oven and grill are at the heart of the open kitchen – both are fired up daily with the finest Pilliga Western Red Ironbark which imparts a unique smoked flavour. All beef is sourced locally where possible from Paul Avery’s Mountain View Farm to Jack’s Creek Beef – two time winner of the World’s Best Steak.
The restaurant’s outstanding wine list received a 2 Glass rating in Australia’s 2019 Wine List of the Year Awards – the first in the region to ever receive this accolade. The Workshop Kitchen is open daily from 6.30am for breakfast, lunch, dinner and every public holiday.
Enter the sophisticated Coal Bunker Bar open every day until late. A salubrious setting to enjoy an aperitif or nightcap or settle in for a top drop or cocktail at wine o’clock. The bar showcases an array of top shelf spirits, an entire whiskey cabinet touring the globe alongside a sample of craft beers & local brews. The restaurant also serves up delicious bar snacks & platters of cured meats & cheese to curb your hunger.
The hotel is easily identified by the obelisk at the front of the property. This was erected to recognise Tamworth as the first town in Australia and the southern hemisphere to provide its residents with electric street lighting. The hotel was built on the original power station or ‘powerhouse’ site – hence the name and celebration of this intriguing history throughout the hotel.
For motorbike enthusiasts, a visit to the onsite Powerhouse Motorcycle Museum is a must.
